Full organic certification enhances the wines allowing for a true representation of our unique terroir. We work in harmony with nature encouraging biodiversity in the vineyard using naturally derived materials to nourish soil fertility and manage disease.

An integral part of the Alpha Domus brand and landscape has been the close and constant presence of the nearby historic Bridge Pa Aerodrome and resident Tiger Moths. The distinctive and magical Tiger Moth has connotations of adventure, romance, beauty and passion, history, and something well made; all elements found in Alpha Domus wines.

The horticultural family saw the potential of the land for viticulture believing it offered a climatic and soil profile that had the potential to produce world class wines. Pioneers in the area they established one of the first wineries and were instrumental in the formation of The Bridge Pa Triangle Wine District, giving the sub-region an identity as a premium winegrowing area of Hawke’s Bay. The passion and commitment that drove the family back then continues today. Alpha Domus remains a 100 percent family-owned and operated winery producing classic enjoyable wines.

The first vines in Hawke’s Bay were planted by French missionaries in the 1850s and it is the only region in New Zealand to continuously produce wine for the last 160 years. In 1895, Government Viticulturist, Romeo Bragatto declared Hawke’s Bay “…the most suitable for vine growing I have visited in New Zealand… by reason of the nature of the soil, natural drainage and sufficiency of heat.” Today Hawke’s Bay is world-renowned for the quality of both red and white wines and is the standard-bearer for New Zealand claret-style reds and Syrah.

The importance of quality and expert craftmanship are paramount, always with the inspiration to create beautiful wines of worth.

The mission of the Bridge Pa Triangle Wine District Association is to promote the world-class image of the Bridge Pa vineyards, wineries and wines from this unique part of Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. To create awareness and demand for Bridge Pa wine and its producers through innovative marketing and education; support viticulture and enology research.
