Ash Ridge Winery
Ash Ridge Winery is a boutique wine producer founded and operated by Chris Wilcock. Starting with acquiring prime land in the Bridge Pa Triangle Wine District, we have literally worked from the ground up with the aim of becoming a premium wine producer focused on producing a small range of Hawke’s Bay wines.
The benefit of establishing a new vineyard is the ability to ideally match combinations of varieties and clones to unique soil profiles and local micro climates. Starting in 2005 we have spent years planning and planting the vineyard, working towards our goal of producing super premium grapes.
From their first crop in 2007 Ash Ridge Winery developed a range of premium wines, with a significant focus on Syrah – potentially the most exciting red wine in New Zealand. It became apparent very early on that we have a unique vineyard, with the early wines consistently winning awards. This trend has continued in the subsequent years as we have endeavored to refine and develop our range, as well as our viticulture and winemaking practices, although Ash Ridge Winery recognise there is plenty of room to grow further.
In 2014 Ash Ridge Winery completed the build of a new winery on the vineyard. In the years since they have worked on further opportunities to develop and improve, with grapes only having to be moved on a few hundred meters from the vine to the tank.
